06/2007 Board of Trustee Minutes
Board of Trustees Meeting
June 7, 2007
Old Business:
1. Approximately 300 more patrons visited the library during May of 2007 than May of 2006. 18 new patrons joined, although a good part of this number was due to a visit from a ½ class from the elementary school. 2027 items circulated in May of 2007, up from 1384 last year. 24 Audio books were downloaded and 38 books were viewed online.
2. Local businesses donated the $350 the library needed to get the Libri foundation award.
3. The May book sale raised $719.50. The Atlas we arranged to be sold through outside means earned the library $400.
4. The summer reading program prizes have been bought, Catherine has visited Troy School and we are ready for the kickoff!
New Business:
1. There was discussion about possibly changing the Library hours in the fall. The library would open on Tuesdays from 10:30-7:30; Wed and Thur hours would stay the same, and the hours on Saturday would change to 10:00-3:00. This would still have the library open the same amount of hours in a week, they would just be rearranged. We discussed possibly having a Children's Story hour in the morning on Tuesday. There seems to be some interest from parents with younger children.
2. Catherine had a nice time at the NHLA conference. She attended seminars and brought back lots of goodies to raffle off during the SRP.
3. Kathy Marrotte will take Eileen's place as Trustee beginning in October. She will be sworn in, and will attend the September meeting to get a feel for how it goes. She has been a library Trustee in the past. She will have to run in the March elections if she wishes to continue on as a Trustee.
4. There was discussion about moving the July meeting due to the 4th. The meeting will be held on July 19th at 7:00pm.
5. There was some discussion about new staff, hour changes and wages. Nothing was decided and discussions will continue in future meetings.
6. We will ask Harold to fix the plaster by the elevator. The outside lamp is missing a finial. The wrought iron needs to be repainted. The stairs and high traffic areas of the rug need to be washed. Karen and her husband will do it if the library rents the machine. And finally, the windows are in need of washing. They gentlemen who power washed the building said he would also do the windows.
