Trustee meeting August 2017

Trustee meeting

August 2, 2017

The meeting was called to order at 4:05 pm.

Trustees reviewed the treasurer’s report.

Director Stephane Charlefour reviewed the monthly statistics for the trustees.

The summer reading program has 88 participants.

We will begin an Adopt a Magazine drive to ask patrons to either subscribe to a magazine for the library or to contribute a cash amount for a subscription to be determined by the director.

Someone asked to use the meeting room for a private baby shower.  The trustees agreed that our policy prohibits private use of the room.

The Joint Loss Management Committee visited the library a few weeks ago and inspected for safety concerns.  We need to do the following:

Mount the AED on the wall instead of having it in a closet.  Trustees voted to spend $92 for the mount.

We must provide a list of hazardous chemicals (cleaning supplies) to the fire department.

Boiler must undergo state inspection.  Jim Dicey will arrange this.

We must install an eye wash station.  It can go in the kitchen closet off the meeting room.

We must keep a log of all reported injuries.

Budget review is currently scheduled for Monday, Oct. 16 at 7:10 pm with the Select Board, then Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7:15 pm with the Budget Committee.

Should we ask for a budget increase for additional staffing?  Trustees agree we should ask.

Should we increase our operating hours?  Trustees agreed we should do this only if the funding for the staffing increase is approved.

Should we increase the building maintenance line in the budget?  We have ended the year over budget on this line two consecutive years.  Yes, we will increase it.

Should we put in a warrant article for new lighting?  Trustees agree we should do this.  Stephanie will get estimates.  We will do just the children’s section.

Selectmen’s Update:  Allan said the town is getting an additional highway grant from the state for $57,471.58.  They will hold a public hearing in a couple of weeks.

There no public comments.

Allan moved to go into nonpublic session under the provisions of RSA 91-A:3, II (b) to discuss the hiring of an employee.  Charlene seconded.  The motion carried, and the trustees went into non-public session at 4:44 pm.

The trustees returned to public session at 5:43 pm.

Next meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017 at 4:00 pm.

The meeting adjourned at 5:44 pm
