Board of Trustees Meeting August 1, 2018

Members Present: Jacque Sendrowski, Charleen Hoefsmit, Rebecca Hackler and Library Director Catherine Callegari

Meeting called to order at 4:11 pm
A motion was made by Jacque to accept the July 11 Trustee meeting minutes as written, seconded by Charleen. Motion passed-all in favor

Highlights- Activities/ Events
• August Special events “Summer Flyer” shared with the team are some of the highlights:
Book Group August 2, Books on Tap August 23, GLC Community coffee Aug 25
• Storytime with Miss Shelia will continue some of the Saturdays September 8 -October 13
• Great job to Jim Dicey/ Highway dept for the expert job trimming the Library trees

Old Business
Catherine provided copies of the Department of Labor findings from Inspector Campbell. Christina the Troy Town Administrative Assistant has copies of the Library employee documents required.

Historical Society Craft Fair- the Library booth was a success. Many people stopped by the booth to participate in the raffle raising 109.00 plus the kids really enjoyed the activities and free books.

Building maintenance update- the installation of the new lighting in the children’s area is almost completed. Catherine is going to have the old book drop attached to the building removed and siding will be needed to cover the opening.

Library Personnel Policy – group discussion and edits on pages 8-11. Jacque motioned to adopt all changes agreed upon by the group. Motion seconded by Charleen. Motion passed- all in favor.

Group discussion on the Library operating budget, some Library line items are still questionable. Catherine will share with Christina the Administrative Assistant.

Summer Reading Program- enrollment of 128 participants from various age groups consisting of children, teenagers and adults. The Ice Cream Social and drawing for the two kids bikes and other Summer Reading Program prizes is today, August 1 at 6pm

New Business

Staffing and vacations reviewed for August.

The Trustees reviewed potential letters of understanding to be presented to the select board regarding the options for handling the Library operating budget from tax dollars.

Upcoming 2019 big ticket items includes the front door glass replacement and a new air conditioner.
